Al finalizar enero concluye el plazo previsto para que las jóvenes lucentinas interesadas en formar parte de la Corte de Honor de María Santísima de Araceli en 2011 presenten sus solicitudes.

A raíz del mismo, hubo finalmente más solicitantes que plazas y, según ha dicho la edil de Fiestas, existió el compromiso de que las que no fueran designadas para 2010 podrían ser damas en 2011, pero éstas candidatas del año pasado pendientes de elección para ahora se han retirado.

En cuanto al dinero... una cosa bien distinta es lo que invierta el Ayuntamiento, y otra lo que cada dama se gaste de su bolsillo. Por tanto, el tema punzante es el dinero publico que puede reducirse adecuadamente teniendo en cuenta los tiempos que corren. Pero justificar esto para pedir la eliminación de esta tradición (a la que llama injustamente parafernalia), es ser un poquito corto de miras. Sobre todo cuando es probable que esta tradición sea mucho mas antigua que usted mismo. Hay otros muchos gastos municipales que deberían desaparecer y se mantienen. Pues yo soy un defensor de nuestras tradiciones y mas en estos tiempos en los que se quieren imponer otras costumbres de lugares muy alejados, ya no solo de Lucena, sino incluso de España.
